Your Voting Options
Option 1: Voting by Mail
Voting by mail is secure and easy. You’ll request a ballot, receive your ballot by mail, and return it to a dropbox or mail it back to the City.
You can request your ballot online (at the link below), by mailing in the application that was included with the annual census, or in-person at the Elections Department. You can even track your ballot to confirm if it was received.
We strongly ensure that you request your ballot 4 weeks and return your ballot 2 weeks before the election!
Note that ballots can be returned to the blue "Vote in the 'Ville" dropboxes found throughout the city. For a list of dropbox locations and more information from the City about voting by mail, click here.
Option 2: Voting Early In-Person
If you want to vote early but enjoy voting in person, you can vote early in person!
Unlike traditional polling, you don’t have to vote at your assigned polling location. Vote at the location that is most convenient for you. All ballot styles will be available at every early voting location. All early voting locations are accessible to voters with disabilities. Every location will also have AutoMark machines for voters who need help marking their ballots.
In Somerville, in-person early voting is held at City Hall. Hours will be as follows:
- Tuesday, October 28th, 2025 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
- Wednesday, October 29th, 2025 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
- Thursday, October 30th, 2025 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM
Option 3: Voting On Election Day
You always have the option of voting at your polling location on Election Day, even if you request a vote-by-mail ballot and don’t return it.
