Jake talks with a person on a sidewalk.

We're just 49 days out from the September 16 preliminary election. Every day I'm hard at work connecting with voters, knocking doors, texting and making calls, and generally doing whatever it takes to get our message out to the people of Somerville.

From all those conversations with voters on the doors and in the community, it's become clear Somervillians love living, working, and playing in our city. The residents and business and property owners of Somerville just have some very real and strong frustrations with the current state of the city, and they are looking for someone to come in and fix things.

I've heard it said people want an "urban mechanic" mayor -- a detail-oriented leader driven to identify and solve the city's problems, from big issues to small annoyances. And that's why voters are responding so positively to our campaign, because that's a big part of what I'm offering voters.

I have a proven track record both on the council and as a non-profit executive of relentless problem solving and process improvement. I'm skilled at determining problem areas, coming up with plans to address the issue, then doing the work to make it happen. That's because I genuine enjoy that challenge. Some people enjoy board games. I love solving problems.

But I need your help with this campaign ahead of September 16. If you've yet to donate to the campaign, this is the time to do so and you can do that here. If you've already donated, can you give again? Can you come knock doors two times between now and the preliminary election? Your financial and volunteer support can help us go through to November and then ultimately win.
